English Sparrow skeleton in dome
Sometimes I get birds that are not suitable for taxidermy-in these cases, I clean the skeletons so their inner beauty can be appreciated. I usually add dried plants and other organic elements, to invoke a bygone memory or feeling. These are domestically raised birds that have passed from causes like illness or old age-nothing is harmed for the sake of art. The skeletons are cleaned using the oxidation method, which leaves a small amount of ligament behind to hold the bones together and provide strength. There is also a light coating of hardener to help strengthen the bones too.
This dome is approx 3.5 in w x 8 in H
SHIPPING NOTE-Domed pieces will be well packed and very padded, but the delicacy of the skeletons means a few bones may still come loose. If so, I can instruct you on how to repair these pieces using Paleo-Bond or Zap-A-Gap glue.
