Ruby Throated Hummingbird

This is a naturally deceased bird from a nature center, mounted for an educational display. Males do not sit in nests, however the client specifically requested this display, providing the nest and specimen. I love working with small birds, even if the specimen is less than prime! This may be the smallest bird I’ve worked on, although surprisingly hardy.

This mount was done at George Dante Studios under all the proper permits. Hummingbirds, like many native US Birds, are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and individuals cannot possess them. If you find a dead bird that is protected, please report it to D-Bird and contact your local Audubon Society or other avian conservation group, ornithology school, or natural history center to see if they can use it.
