Three Legged Chick

This Cornish Hen was born with three legs and somewhat disfigured anatomy, and passed away immaturely. Aside from the malformed anatomy, the other challenges presented were the rough, molting feathers and the bare patches of skin. I used a technique where I tinted the form and the adhesive paste under the skin to help re-create the look of the specimen. This beautifully bizarre creature was mounted for a client who collects anatomic anomalies for traveling educational exhibits. Creatures like this may be disturbing to some viewers, however, they live on through the art of taxidermy to help educate the public about congenital anomalies.
